Gold Swiss 20 Franc History: 

As one of the most beautiful of Swiss coins, the 20 Franc has been called the “Swiss Miss” of coins.  The Swiss Franc 20 coin was minted from 1897-1935 with restrikes in 1947 and 1949.  Production ceased in 1936 due to the Great Depression.  The image of Helvetia on the obverse of the coin is held in same regard as Lady Liberty in the United States.  The Swiss Franc coins are normally valued higher for their gold content than legal tender.

European mints have been producing gold and silver coins for more than a millennium now. Before there was the Euro (€) to unite the continent’s economy, the Franc served as a widely accepted form of currency in many countries. Struck by different mints, varied years available. All coins available in Almost Uncirculated Condition. There are two common 20 Francs Gold Coins available for purchase still today. The 20 Francs Swiss Helvetia and the 20 Francs Gold French Rooster Coin, each of which had similar minting runs during the late 19th and early 20th century.
