A french coin bearing the image of Napoleon Bonaparte and first issued in the early 1800’s. In 1849 began bearing the image of Ceres, the Roman Goddess of agriculture. “Le coq gaulois”, the Gallic Rooster was added on the reverse in 1899, and have a variety of interesting designs the most common being Napoleons and Roosters.
